The 2024 AHR Expo, the largest HVACR event of the year, is set to return to Chicago from January 22-24, accompanied by the co-located 2024 ASHRAE Winter Conference, taking place from January 20-24 at the Marriott Marquis Chicago. After a period of declining participation in in-person meetings and tradeshows due to the COVID-19 pandemic, industries are experiencing a resurgence in attendance at live events. The AHR Expo, since its last visit to Chicago in 2021, has witnessed a strong resurgence, with Chicago selling out of exhibitor space for the 2024 event, featuring more than 1,835 exhibitors.
The HVACR industry has been adjusting to the new norm following the pandemic, leading to a renewed interest in attending conferences and trade shows. According to Nicole Bush, the director of marketing for the AHR Expo, the last two shows have seen a strong resurgence in people getting back to in-person events, and there is anticipation that more industry professionals will take advantage of the value of this experience.
Educational opportunities abound at the co-located ASHRAE Winter Conference and AHR Expo, with a focus on addressing challenges such as decarbonization and climate change. ASHRAE’s conference features 11 technical tracks, over 100 sessions, and opportunities to earn Professional Development Hours (PDHs). The AHR Expo Educational Program offers more than 110 free seminars, panel series, new product presentations, professional certifications, and continuing education courses.
The ASHRAE Learning Institute will provide 18 courses during the conference, including topics like building decarbonization, control of infectious aerosols, and indoor air quality improvements. The AHR Expo’s panel discussions, such as the State of the Industry panel, moderated by Bryan Orr of HVAC School, and discussions on topics like heat pumps, electrification, and the grid, offer insights into current challenges and opportunities in HVACR.
The AHR Expo Trends Report, featuring insights from Ginger Scroggins, President of ASHRAE, highlights industry transformations driven by technological advancements and a heightened focus on sustainability. Trends in 2024 include building decarbonization, electrification and heat pumps, refrigeration and regulation updates, living healthy and indoor air quality, and the green transition.
The AHR Expo show floor will host various events, including exhibitor presentations in the New Product Theater, providing overviews of new product announcements and technologies. Additionally, educational sessions, like “Bridging the Knowledge Gap” hosted by Caleffi Hydronic Solutions, aim to provide valuable insights and industry knowledge.
The article also discusses key mergers and acquisitions in the HVACR industry, such as GF Piping Systems’ acquisition of Uponor, and their presence at the AHR Expo to showcase their combined offerings.
In conclusion, the AHR Expo and ASHRAE Winter Conference in 2024 promise a wealth of educational opportunities, panel discussions, and insights into the latest trends and innovations in the HVACR industry, with a focus on sustainability and addressing pressing challenges. Industry professionals attending these events can expect a robust program, networking opportunities, and a chance to explore new products and technologies shaping the future of HVACR.
